Gerrit Otto Buterman
July 1, 1938 - September 29, 2021
On September 29, 2021, Gerrit Otto Buterman passed away peacefully at the age of 83.
Gerrit will be sadly missed by his children Jan and Kevin (Debbie), grandchildren Gier, Ellison, Gerrit and Hanna as well as numerous extended family and close friends.
Cremation has taken place and a private family Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
Gary was one of the best carpentry instructors I had the privilege to work with. He was always ready to help others by sharing his knowledge and experience. He had previous students come back to him to solve a construction problem that was stumping them. Sometimes it took him days to come up with a solution to their construction problem but he got it to them at no extra cost to the project. Gary was a character: but if he liked you he would give his shirt off his back. He taught me many thinks and not only in carpentry. Gary’s family please accept my condolences of a loss of one of a kind person. He leaves us with many memories.

I am very sorry to hear that Gary passed away. I taught with Gary many years at the College and he showed me many tricks in carpentry especially finishing and he was a good instructor who would do anything for the student. Sorry again Kevin and all his the family.
