Jose De Matos
Surrounded by his loving family Jose De Matos of Edmonton passed away peacefully on Sunday August 17, 2025 at the age of 81 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by wife of 61 years, Maria Liseta; his three children: Fernanda (Kevin) Zawadiuk, Irene (Gene) Guidoccio and Tony (Nicole) Matos; seven grandchildren: Meghan (Matthew) Walker, Gabriele (Sarah) Guidoccio, Marco Guidoccio, Alexandra (Rhy’s) Matos, Alyssa Zawadiuk, Lucas Matos and Christian Matos; two sisters: Luzia Duarte and Maria Adelaide Correia; two sisters-in-law Ezilda Barata and Orlanda (Manuel) Grancho as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Manuel and Maria Jose; two sisters Irene (Domingos) Rogeiro and Helena (Jose) Craveiro and his brother Antonio Barata; his niece Teresa Duarte and two nephews, Jose Joaquim Duarte and Antonio Pedro Barata.
The family would like to thank Dr. Fernando Zampieri and the ICU staff of the U of A hospital for the care, compassion, dignity and respect that they showed our father.
