In loving memory of Laverne (Lana) Woelk (nee Bratt), we are saddened to announce her passing on January 1st, 2026. She will remain forever in our hearts.

Laverne was a loving mother and grandmother, who is survived by her three children Julieanna, Trina and Melanie, and her grandchildren Jacquelyn, Jasmine and Kobe.

From a very young age, Laverne was a nature lover and spent long hours in the sunshine exploring with her good friend Bernie in the trees and cranberry bog surrounding the Bratt family farm. She was also an animal-lover who had pets ranging from kittens, dogs, a rescued fawn named Bambi and a horse named Ginger.

Laverne was blessed with a healing touch and industrious spirit that drew her toward her studies at the Victorian Order of Nurses. She earned accreditation as an LPN and had a busy and successful career caring for children and adults with special needs and many seniors. Laverne touched many lives and was held in high esteem by the individuals and families she provided expert care for.

Into her retirement, Laverne developed a special love for retired show Shelties. Over the years, she had three Shelties, Meadow, Chante and Gracie. Each one a cherished companion who brought her joy, comfort, and laughter. Her home was always filled with the soft patter of paws and the unconditional love that only a devoted pet owner truly understands.

Laverne took great pride in her lovely, bright home and found great beauty and peace in her flowers. Her patio garden was her sanctuary, a beautiful display of color and life that reflected her nurturing spirit. She could often be found tending to her blooms, knowing each one by heart and taking pride in the display.

Laverne was especially known for her generosity with her neighbors. Whether offering a helping hand, a listening ear, or a thoughtful gesture, she made her community feel more connected and cared for. Her presence brought comfort, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who lived around her.

Laverne leaves behind a legacy of compassion, quiet strength, and a genuine love. Her memory will continue to blossom in the hearts of family, friends, neighbors, and everyone whose lives she brightened.

Laverne was predeceased by her parents Janet & Arthur Bratt, her brothers and sisters Lorne, Norris, Victor, and Pearl and is survived by her sisters Maxine and Joyce.
