Raymond Robert Joseph Carriere
It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Raymond (Ray) Carriere on Saturday, March 28, 2026 surrounded by his family at the Norwood Centre.
Ray was born on April 11, 1958 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Irene and Claude Carriere. Ray grew up in Saint Boniface, Winnipeg alongside his three siblings Gisele, Leo, and Mona.
Ray spent his career with CN Rail and formed many lifelong friendships before retiring in 2013.
Ray will be lovingly remembered by his son Scott (Jackie) and their newborn son Ace Raymond James. Ray was a proud grandfather and enjoyed hearing Scott’s many stories about his newborn baby.
Ray always enjoyed speaking with Scott about their latest projects they were working on together. They talked endlessly on the best way to tackle the project and no creation was too big. Ray was the consummate craftsman and looked forward to the next big project. Recently, Ray relocated to Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta to be close to his son Scott. They enjoyed their time together and indeed were each other‘s best buddies. Although he did not have as much time in Alberta as he would’ve liked, he enjoyed his beautiful home and his new surroundings.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jason Voldeng for his care and compassion, including the staff at Capitol Care Gene Zwozdesky Center Norwood in Edmonton, Alberta.
Ray will be remembered for his strength these last few years as he fought with such bravery and courage. He was determined to beat cancer and fought valiantly till the end.
He appreciated the love and support from his son, Scott and Scott’s mother Laurie especially in his last few months. This also includes Scott’s family Gilles, Trish, Steven, Sarah, Cam, Giselle, Mona, and Leo; Jackie’s family, mother Janet, father Jerry and brother Jerry Jr. This also includes lifelong friends, Dave Mestdagh, Mike Stuziak, and Kent Wesley.
At Rays request, there will be no funeral. A future celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Loving note from Scott;
So much of me is made from what I learned from you Dad. You will always be the man I look up to. Thank you very much for everything.
I love you, Dad.
