It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Selina Xiaoyue Lu on April 20, 2022. She was 50 years old.

Xiaoyue was born in Suzhou, China on August 31, 1971. She was the only child of her parents. She completed her schooling and university in Nanjing. She then worked at Hohai University. In 1999, she met Shijie in an English class in Nanjing and the two fell in love. Shijie came to the University of Alberta to do his master’s degree in 2000 and they also got married in the same year. Her first child Cindy was born in 2005 and the second child Ady was born in 2009. Xiaoyue always had a passion for the children and took the children to explore many interests and the world. She was always ready to help others by volunteering for churches and charities. Xiaoyue was a wonderful, loving, warm-hearted and beautiful woman. Xiaoyue will be remembered forever in our hearts. No words can express the sorrow we are all feeling.

Xiaoyue has left behind her husband Shijie Zhang, daughter Cindy Zhang, son Ady Zhang, and mother Jinghua Jiang. Her sudden loss is also felt by her church friends in Canada, and her cousins Xiaoyin, Renyuan, Xu Ze, Pu Qing, Zang You, as well as many extended family members in China. She is deeply mourned by many other friends too.
