On September 22, 2025, Victor Horon passed away peacefully in hospital, surrounded by his loving family, after a valiant battle against cancer, at the age of 91.

Born in Vegreville, Alberta, Victor attended school in New Kiew until moving to Edmonton to study Pharmacy at the University of Alberta. He worked at Alberta Hospital Edmonton until retirement in 1994. He married Olga (Fodchuk) in 1964, with whom he built a secure, stable, loving family life for their children. Victor’s generosity extended to others, as he and Olga often took relatives’ and neighbours’ children on fun family vacations with their own.

Prior to a farming accident in 1993 which severely reduced his mobility, Victor loved travelling, making home movies, catching up with friends at pharmacy meetings and conventions, singing with the AUUC Mens' Choir, woodworking and building construction. He was particularly fond of going out for breakfast on Saturdays. After retirement, he continued to devote his time to farming, photography, journaling, and volunteering for the local Ukrainian cultural diaspora. His Ukrainian roots shaped much of who he was, deeply influencing the way he approached his life and the family traditions he strived to maintain.

Victor is survived by his wife Olga, daughter Anita, and son Anthony; grandsons Chris and Scott; sisters Olga, Lily, Vera, and Veronica (Dave); sister-in-law Elsie; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Annie, brother Peter, brothers-in-law Myron, John, and Roy, and nephews Allan and Daryl.
As per Victor’s wishes, there will be no service.

Cremation has taken place. A private celebration of life will take place in the future, time and place to be determined.
