John McFadyen
It is with great sadness the family of John (Jack) McFadyen announce his peaceful passing on April 20, 2017 at the age of 79 years in Edmonton, Alberta.
He will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Linda of 51 years, sons Jim and David, grandsons Ryan and Evan, sister Kay Oliver and sister-in-law Margaret Kennedy, brother-in-law Ron Kennedy and numerous close family members and friends. Jack was predeceased by his father Edward, mother Mabel and brother Jim and Bob. Jack was a kind and gentle man who was an avid golfer.
At Jack’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada T6G 1Z2.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and entire staff of Palliative Care Unit 43 at the Grey Nuns Hospital and St. Josephs Palliative Care Hospice, for their kindness, compassion, support and care shown to Jack during his time there.
I’ll miss Jack. We grew up together and played gold as young boys. He was a humble man of faith and a great friend and cousin. Our prayers are now for Linda and their children. I look forward to seeing him in Heaven with all the other McFadyens.
Sad news indeed. Linda he fought so hard to stay with you on earth. He is with the heavenly father now and in pain no longer. How blessed you were to have him with you for 51 years. I know you will focus now on the happy memories, some of which you have already shared with family and friends. From your stories, he was a wonderful man. You and your family will be in my prayers. We were so blessed to know Jack. He was such a kind caring person and loved you so much Linda. You spent 51 years together, shared many memories and laughs. He is watching over you; you will feel his presence. Jack is at peace now, free of pain, he will always be in your heart. I just wish we lived closer so I could give you a hug. Just close your eyes and you will see him, brings a smile to your face.

Sadly I will mourn the loss of my brother Jack, the last of my family. I will always remember his big smile, his laugh, and the generous kindness he showed to everyone. I will miss him.
I felt so honored and blessed to spend my uncles last day with him. Uncle Jack, Aunty Linda, cousin Jim and I spent the day… laughing…. crying…..remembering….a life well lived…and well loved. Who can ask for more. God Bless You, Uncle Jack….I Love You!
Jack and I grew up close to downtown Edmonton and spent many hours together delivering the Edmonton Journal and more importantly playing golf at the Victoria Golf Club. He was a great friend!

My Uncle Jack, my Godfather was a kind gentle soul with a great laugh. I will forever remember our days at the horse races where he and Aunty Linda were usually the big winners! Our family trip to the Mayan Riviera will live in my memory and be cherished forever. Be at peace and pain free now. Know you were loved.
Dear Linda and family, I just learned of the passing of your dear Jack. You all have my deepest sympathy. I only knew Jack through you Linda and from that it was clear he was a warm and loving family man whose quiet, gentle nature was a constant in your lives. Your love and dedication to him was always evident. May you find comfort in knowing you helped him throughout his journey and that he is now at peace.

Kirsten and I have the deepest sympathy for you during this difficult time. We are so thankful for the recent memories of spending time with Uncle Jack and you, Auntie Linda, at the horse races and for the beautiful Thanksgiving we all got to share together. My great uncle Jack was a wonderful person and is a beautiful soul. I love him dearly and will really miss him. Kirsten is very happy to have been able to get to know him for the short time she did.
