MacKenzie Saunders

MacKenzie Gabrielle Saunders passed away peacefully on April 18, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. She was only 20 years old. MacKenzie was born in Fort McMurray, Alberta and it’s where she lived in her final days. MacKenzie will be greatly missed and has left a hole in our hearts. We will never forget her.

MacKenzie was predeceased by her grandmother Daphne Bartlett. She is survived by parents Jeanna Saunders (Steven), TJ Bartlett (Lindsay), grandparents Diane Waterman, Terry Bartlett (Sadie, Ronda) and John Saunders. Also by her aunts Hanna Despins (Aaron), Jennifer Nichols (Louis), Jessica Bartlett, uncles Jeff Saunders, Jason Brenton, and her siblings Owen Bartlett, Myles Bartlett and Sofia Saunders. Her best friend Selena and boyfriend Tryston.

MacKenzie was a big fan of old music, especially the band Queen. She loved the outdoors and animals in which they seemed to love her just as much. She spent her teenage years being active and in the cadets where she greatly enjoyed learning survival skills and training. Her humour always had everyone laughing and her smile was contagious. Most importantly, she was an amazing sister and loved her siblings so much.

Her memorial will be announced soon. We welcome everyone who had the pleasure of knowing MacKenzie or would like to pay tribute to her to attend.

May MacKenzie rest in eternal peace, free from pain and her memory continue to bring comfort to those who mourn her passing.

We ask in lieu of flowers there be a donation made to the Fort McMurray SPCA. There will be a box for donations at the memorial, or you may make the donation directly yourself.
