Raymond Hruday
Raymond Hruday passed away peacefully in Edmonton on Monday April 21st, 2025 at age 95.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Olga of 70 years, his four children and spouses: Ken (Connie) Hruday, Brian (Janice) Hruday, David (Brenda) Hruday, Kathy (Bill) Storr, his two grandchildren: Ian Hruday, Katrina Hruday and his brother Steve Nicol.
Raymond had a sharp mind and a keen interest in science and all things technical. After trying his hand at various jobs he found his calling as a steam engineer and worked at this for 38 years until his retirement in 1994.
It was a point of pride for him that he never missed a day of work due to illness. Ray was an avid “do it your selfer” and spent many hours on home improvements.
He loved animals and when he retired he devoted many hours to walking his dog, feeding the squirrels, talking to the birds and generally welcoming any animal that wandered into the yard.
He had a generous spirit was always there to help others in need. Ray also loved spending time with his grandchildren and he’s left them with many stories and anecdotes which they still talk about.
He will be greatly missed by his wife and family.
The family would like to offer sincere gratitude for the compassionate and tireless care Ray received from the staff of Shepherd’s Care Long term care facility.
