Jeanne Gloria McCoy (Whitford, Bredt & White)
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Jeanne McCoy, a beloved mother, grandmother, partner, and friend, who passed away peacefully on Friday, June 27th, 2025, at the age of 80. Jeanne was surrounded in her final moments by her loving daughters Amanda Post and Heidi Bredt and granddaughter Alanah Curle with the comforting sounds of her favourite artist, Rod Stewart, playing softly—ushering her onward with love, music, and grace.
Born on April 24th, 1945, in England, Jeanne entered the world as an only child. As a baby, she was brought to Canada.
A longtime resident of Edmonton, Jeanne lived a vibrant and fearless life filled with compassion, laughter, and an unshakable zest for life. She was known for her boundless energy, unmistakable fashion sense, and the way she made everyone feel like family.
Jeanne built a fulfilling career as a dedicated travel agent, inspiring others to see the world and helping them discover new places with the same wonder and excitement that she carried in her heart.
Later in life, Jeanne’s heart was captured by saving cheetahs in Africa. She became actively involved in a cheetah conservation organization, devoting her time, energy, and voice to help protect these majestic animals. Her passion for cheetahs became a defining part of who she was.
Jeanne truly lived her life like a cheetah—graceful, powerful, and fiercely independent.
She was predeceased by her beloved grandson Andrew Bredt Curle. Jeanne is survived by her children, grandchildren, and her beloved partner in life, Ron Longmore, who lovingly cared for her through every moment and will miss her deeply. She also leaves behind a large circle of family and friends who will forever remember her.
A celebration of Jeanne’s life will be held but details of the service have not yet been decided. These will be shared with friends and family once determined.
Rest peacefully, Jeanne McCoy. You ran wild and free in this life—and your journey continues in the hearts of all who loved you.
