Collette Louise Cadieux was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, friend and beloved member of her community. She passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, at the age of 72. Born in Lac La Biche on March 5, 1953, Collette was the tenth child of Louis and Lucienne Rudiger. Her life was marked by unwavering kindness, generosity, humour, and a nurturing spirit that touched countless lives.
She is survived by her three children: Bradley Cadieux (Jo-Lyn), Carrie Sleno (Kevin Jackson), and Chantelle Cadieux; and her eight adored grandchildren: Nathanial and Cassandra Cadieux, Carter, Madison and Logan Sleno, and Maryn, Malayna, and Ansen Rufiange.
Collette also leaves behind her siblings Annette Brown, Yvonne, Patrick (Angele), and John (Monique) Rudiger, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will deeply miss her loving and joyful presence.
Collette was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Lucienne (née Davio) Rudiger; her husband, Brian Cadieux; and her siblings Bob, Emile, Paul, Leon, and Dennis Rudiger, as well as her sisters Esther Siry and Cecile Laventure.
Collette married Brian Cadieux, on April 15, 1972, in Lac La Biche, Alberta. They began raising their family in Lac La Biche, living first above the post office, then moving to the Cadieux family farm. In 1981, they relocated to Whitecourt, and in 1991, to Red Deer, in support of Brian’s career with Nowsco. Collette supported Brian every step of the way, handling the family bookkeeping, managing the household, and ensuring her children were always well cared for.
Becoming a grandmother in Red Deer was a highlight of Collette’s life. She embraced the role with joy and devotion, always available for a card or board game, a chat, a camping trip, or one of her famous, abundant family dinners. Her family was her heart, and she was incredibly proud of each of her grandchildren.
A talented musician, Collette played the piano beautifully and loved singing around campfires with family and friends. Music brought her joy and was one of the many ways she connected with others.
After experiencing a second brain aneurysm in 2018, Collette lived in St. Albert under the care of her daughters and dedicated staff at various community care settings, including Citadel Mews West, Aspen House, Everitt Gardens, and Venta Care Centre. Even through her health challenges, her gentle, loving spirit remained constant, and she formed meaningful connections with many caregivers and residents.
Collette lived a life of gratitude, compassion, and warmth. She made everyone around her feel heard, valued, and loved. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her legacy of kindness and love will continue to shine through those she leaves behind.
The family extends their deepest thanks to all the caregivers who supported Collette throughout her later years.
Rest in peace, Collette Louise Cadieux. You will be forever cherished.

Brad,Carrie,Chantelle. I am so very sorry my heart breaks for you as having lost both parents so young please know our prayers go out to you all.
So many memories of your mom – hot chocolate with marshmallows and crunchy peanut butter on toast is one of my favourite- hold yours close in your heart and she will always be with you- much love and sympathies

Collette was such a special person, always kind and loving to everyone. She will trueness missed.
Our deepest sympathies to Bradley, Carrie, Chantelle and your families in the loss of your very caring and loving Mom, Collette.
I will miss Collette; she was my true friend and I loved her like my sister. Our friendship is treasured as is our memories of the wonderful family times we had together.
Our children grew up together sharing many wonderful memories and their mischievous adventures as well. We laughed and enjoyed our times together and I’ll always be grateful for our friendship.

Although it’s been years since I have seen Collette, when I did get to spend time with her when Chantelle was in uni and then the years to follow, she loved having people over, she was easy to talk to and always just happy with whatever was happening. She loved her kids, she loved being a grandma and man, she has nine lives! You will be missed and I agree, she was a beautiful kind soul!
