Joao (John) Pereira
On December 21, 2025 Mr. Joao Pereira of Edmonton passed away peacefully at the age of 49 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends.
He was predeceased by his mother Berta Pereira and his father Albano Pereira.
Joao (John) Manuel Pereira was the light of his parents lives. He was their purpose, their treasure and their happiness so its with a comforting voice that we announce he has been reunited with them once again.
John was a lover of love, music, Dora the Explorer, his parents, his caregivers and his baseball caps. He could not speak with words but communicated deeply with his eyes and his actions. He loved running when his legs could carry him, and telephones, and switches. He loved hugs and kisses, and watching the world around him. He was a fighter and was so incredibly strong and resilient.
Special thanks go to John's many caregivers throughout his life. I hope each of them know that their blessings and reward will be tenfold the care they gave to John and continue to do for others.
Therefore, if you would like to donate in John's name please look into your own communities and find agencies such as Tralee Residential Services, the YWCA, Chrysalis, Good Samaritan Society and ask them what You can do to help their good work. That would be a wonderful way to honor John and his parents.

To the family and friends of Joao (John),
I am writing this on behalf of the team at Tralee Residential Services. We had the distinct privilege of welcoming John into our care for the last several months of his life.
Reading this beautiful tribute, I found myself nodding along—especially regarding the way he communicated so deeply with his eyes. His resilience and his love for connection made a lasting impact on us. It was truly a gift to be one of the caregivers he allowed into his world, and we will miss his presence, his baseball caps, and his spirit.
It brings us comfort to know he has been reunited with his beloved parents, Berta and Albano. Thank you for the kind words regarding his caregivers; it was our honour to support him.
