It is with immense sorrow that we announce the passing of Darron (Theodore) Foote, age 78, on January 13, 2026, at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton. Darron faced significant health challenges in recent years and passed peacefully surrounded by his family.

Darron is lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Dawn Foote, and their children:

  • Darron (Jr.) Foote and his wife Kyla (Mah) of Cold Lake
    • Children: Ashly and Colton
    • Grandchildren: Keenan, Evie, and Hank
  • Daniel Foote and his wife Elaine (Borges) of Sherwood Park
    • Children: Ava and Brianna
  • Dana Foote and her partner Ron Rockwood of Edmonton
  • Mike Foote and his wife Wendy (Tran) of Edmonton/Calgary
    • Children: Kiera, Connor, and Owen

He is also survived by his siblings:

  • Ken Foote and sisterinlaw Cindy Foote of Lasalle, Ontario and their children and grandchildren
  • Wanda Bleau and brotherinlaw John Bleau of Essex, Ontario and their children and grandchildren

Darron was predeceased by his parents, Eli and Mildred Foote of Windsor, Ontario, as well as his brother Brian Foote, also of Windsor.

Darron completed his education at W.D. Lowe High School in Windsor, Ontario. He began his career with Uniroyal Tire Company, working in management roles that took him to Toronto, Sault Ste. Marie, and Ottawa. While living in Ottawa, he pursued his longheld dream of becoming a police officer and was accepted into the RCMP. Policing was not just a career for Darron—it was a calling.

He served with dedication in Ottawa before transferring to Alberta in 1979. Over the years, he worked in Athabasca, Thorsby, Edmonton (K Division), Wetaskiwin, Fort McMurray, Edmonton again, and finally Calgary. He retired as a Sergeant in November 2011 after more than 37 years of service.

Throughout his career, Darron was known for his professionalism, compassion, and unwavering commitment to helping others. His family has heard countless stories of the positive impact he had on the people he encountered, as well as the many quiet acts of kindness he offered without seeking recognition.

In retirement, Darron and Dawn continued to enjoy travelling, something they had loved throughout their life together. He enjoyed camping, and after retiring, traded his holiday trailer for a condo in Arizona, where they spent several memorable winters. Above all else, Darron cherished time with his family. He was immensely proud of his children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren, and loved them with his whole heart. They were his greatest joy.

A private funeral service has already taken place with his family. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 24 from 1:00PM to 5:00PM at the Delta Edmonton South, 4404 Gateway Blvd. Top of the Inn 11th floor.  All who wish to attend will be welcome.

The Foote family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. J. Ringrose of Edmonton for her exceptional care over the past several years, as well as to the compassionate care team on the 4th floor of the University of Alberta Hospital for their kindness in his final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diabetes Canada, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
