Manikayi Rukande
Manikayi Rukande was born on June 16, 1966 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. He was incepted into the GRJ faith by his parents, and he maintained that faith into his adult life.
He attended Chipembere Primary School in Highfield before continuing to Cranborne Boys High School in Harare. He enrolled in the Engineering program at the University of Zimbabwe before being awarded a scholarship to study Engineering in Russia in the mid-1980s.
Manikayi became fluent in the Russian language and excelled academically until he graduated and returned home in 1992. He briefly worked for the Government of Zimbabwe and married his dear wife, Susan, in 1994.
In 1998, the family relocated to England and then moved to New York City in 1999. Their immigrant journey continued from New York to Dallas, Texas, and eventually to Canada, where they settled and built their life.
Manikayi’s legacy is underlined by his unique mastery of Mathematics, his sharp wit, and his consistent academic excellence — achieving first position in his classes up to high school level and earning distinctions in college.
He approached life with humility. He was kind, gentle, peace-loving, and carried an impressive sense of humor that warmed those around him.
As he crosses to the other side, he is reunited with his twin and beloved family members who departed before him.
Manikayi leaves behind his loving wife, Susan Netsayi, his daughter Lissa, and his son Kingstone.
Fambai zvakanaka, Mwendamberi.
