Linda Dawn Peterson
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Linda Dawn Peterson on April 2, 2026, in Stony Plain, AB. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.
Linda was born on February 20, 1951, in Saint John, New Brunswick, to James and Violet Peterson. She moved to Alberta in 1996 where she remained until her passing.
Linda will always be remembered for her quick wit, warm sense of humor, and infectious laugh. She was the life of every gathering and had a remarkable gift for making friends wherever she went.
A talented singer with a lifelong love of country music, Linda fulfilled a cherished dream when she recorded and performed alongside her dear friend Bobby.
Above all else, Linda was a loving “Nanny”. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest pride and brought endless happiness to her life. Her children will forever be inspired by her resilience, strength, and perseverance. Her final gift to them was the courage and determination with which she fought to remain with those she loved.
Linda is lovingly remembered by her children: Rebecca (Lawrence) and their children Kayden and Chloe; Wayne (Tanya) and their children Mitchell, Robyn, and Marlee; Corey (Kelly) and their children Alex and Josh; Troy (Amanda) and their children Ethyn, Sydnie, and Tyler.
She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Isaac and Azara, and her siblings: Barbara Chapman, Marilyn (Bill) Sommerville, Doug (Jean) Peterson, Carol Matthews, Nancy Gardiner, Bob Peterson, and Randy Peterson as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Linda’s children wish to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Aunt Nancy, who lovingly and tirelessly cared for their mom during her final weeks, and to Lois, a true and devoted friend who brought comfort and companionship to Linda in her final years.
A special thank you to the staff at Westview Health Centre Hospice.
At Linda’s request, no service will be held. She will be laid to rest beside her mother in Barnesville, New Brunswick, at a later date.
