Laurie Alton Lamoureux

Laurie Alton Lamoureux passed away unexpectedly on August 8, 2026, at the age of 85.

Born in Radville, Saskatchewan and raised in Gladmar, Laurie eventually made his way to Alberta. He spent most of his working years as a truck driver and heavy duty mechanic and was known as an incredibly hard worker. He was happiest when he was busy and always needed to be doing something. When ALS took away his ability to work, it was one of the hardest adjustments of his life.

Laurie was always up for a good time with family and friends and had a lifetime of stories to prove it. He loved to joke, make people laugh, play his guitar and sing, and reminisce about the good times he had over the years. Just as importantly, Laurie was a great listener. He was someone his family could talk to, count on and know would always be there when they needed him.

As work and projects became more difficult, Laurie found other ways to keep himself busy. In his later years, he enjoyed Thursday bingo and puzzles at the lodge, along with a good rum and a smoke and time spent with those around him.

Laurie was the father of seven daughters and a grandfather and great grandfather many times over. He was predeceased by his wife Joanne, his daughter Roxanne, his granddaughter Blair, his mother Letha, his biological father Elsaid Legaré, his stepfather Ivor Tangedal, and his younger brother Elvis.

Laurie will be deeply missed for his humour, his stories, his stubbornness, his smile, the way he listened, and simply knowing he was always there.
