With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Marin Bâra, a loving husband, father, brother, and friend, who passed away peacefully in October 2026 at the age of 87, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Bucharest, Romania, to Preda and Maria Bâra, Marin grew up as the second of five children alongside his sisters Viorica, Mioara, Nina, and Geta. His early years were shaped by the hardships of World War II and the famine of 1947—experiences that instilled in him a deep sense of compassion, resourcefulness, and generosity that defined his entire life. From a young age, he developed a remarkable ingenuity and hands-on creativity, making his own toys from wood and metal, a skill that would later become his lifelong passion and career.

In 1965, Marin married the love of his life, Georgeta. Together, they built a warm home grounded in devotion and hard work, and in 1967, they welcomed their cherished son, Sorin. Professionally, Marin excelled as a skilled machinist (strungar) at the Orthopedic Prosthetics Institute in Bucharest (I.P.O.P.), where his technical talent and innovative mind helped design specialized devices and vehicle adaptations for individuals with disabilities, restoring their independence and mobility.

Seeking freedom and new opportunities following the 1989 Romanian Revolution, Marin and his family emigrated to Canada in 1992 to start a new chapter. Though adapting to a new country and language later in life was challenging, Marin’s strong work ethic and resilience never wavered as he continued working as a machinist.

Known affectionately to friends as "Nea Marin," he was a truly honest, humble, and hardworking man. He loved gathering people together, working in his garden, crafting things around the house, and hosting memorable barbecues. Above all, Marin was dedicated to his family, caring deeply for his wife through illness with unwavering love and devotion.

Marin’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of his beloved wife Georgeta, his son Sorin and daughter-in-law Vera, his sisters, extended family, and dear friends.

"Rămâi mereu în inimile noastre!"
(Forever in our hearts)
