Carl Eckert
We announce with great sadness, the passing of Carl Eckert on Sunday October 11, 2026 at the age of 97. Carl passed away peacefully at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, surrounded by his loving family.
Carl was born on June 5, 1929, in the small town of Scott, Saskatchewan. He spent the first 21 years of his life growing up on the family farm surrounded by the values of hard work and determination. He then moved to Vancouver with his brothers to begin his adult life experiences before landing in Edmonton. There he met and married Therese Picard. Therese had three children of her own which he took as his. Together, Carl and Therese had five more boys. Oh boy...
Carl spent his working days at the Edmonton General Hospital while instilling on to his children the hard working values he'd learned on the farm.
After 30 years at the hospital, he retired and started a new life with Marjorie, who also had three children of her own. With Carl's love and compassion he blended all those close to him into one big happy family. Carl and Marjorie spent 20 years travelling with the Friendship Force making new friends around the entire globe. They enjoyed many years of curling and fun times together. He also took great pride in his flower garden at the Pigeon Lake cabin and spent many hours painting ornaments to proudly display in his garden.
Carl will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Marjorie Eckert, his sister Victoria Eckert, his many children, stepchildren, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous relatives and friends around the world.
