Bich-Thuy Nguyen
We regret to announce the passing of Bich-Thuy Nguyen, a beloved mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. Bich passed on June 10th, 2025, at approximately 6:20 pm, with her son at her side. She was fifty-five years old. We are grateful for the care of the Grey Nuns Hospital’s Tertiary Palliative Care Unit in her final days.
Those final days were a space of laughter, even in the face of confusion and mounting grief. Her daughter’s final glimpse of her was of her smiling and eating, safe in the company of her family. Her son’s final words to her were in appreciation of the lessons she handed down to her children: bravery, and a stubborn drive to live vibrantly--traits Bich embodied fully as she faced her cancer and then the prospect of her death.
We who loved her know that she was a woman of delightful contradiction, with a fierce temper and a generous heart. Her friends describe her as a spark of life, the glue that held communities together; she was known for her quick wit and sly smiles, and unwillingness to sit still for a photo without being teased into an eruption of laughter. Her family knew her as a dutiful daughter and a loyal sister, who never hesitated to boost her siblings and lovingly embrace her parents. Her children, in turn, will remember her as the song that could lull them to sleep, the voice that could motivate them, and the hand that could reach out in the dark.
Together, we mourn every piece of her, and confront the prospect of a world changed by both her presence and absence. We encourage you to grieve as Bich wanted: by singing proudly, laughing loudly, eating well…and by telling stories over a game of dominoes.
Please join us at 9:15 am at Trinity Funeral Home (10530 116 Street, Edmonton AB), on Friday, June 20th, to celebrate her and wish her safe and peaceful passage to her next life.
We are grateful for the efforts of Bich’s youngest sister, Kim, who has organized a service we hope will offer some comfort and joy in this difficult time.
Bich is survived by: her parents, siblings, and her many treasured nieces and nephews; by her children and her beloved dogs; and by her granddaughter, who carries so much of her spark of life.
Mom, I hope the mountain peaks welcome you, and the ocean sings with you. I hope there are countless stars to greet you and bid you goodnight. Sleep well.
From the Khabra/Aceytuno family,
Our condolences for the whole family. Although I did not personally meet Bich, I am blessed to have a part of her in my life and in my family and I am grateful for her for spreading her impact into our world through her life and the life of her kids. I know her life will continue to touch many others through those she has remembering her still. With much love, Cristina Aceytuno Khabra and family
