Bill “ William” Manchuk, proud father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, at the age of 78.

Born on September 1, 1947, in Edmonton, Alberta, to William and Anastasia Manchuk, Bill grew up alongside his sister Candace and brother Robert. His determination and athletic talent led him to Utah State University, where he excelled on the football field. In 1971, he was drafted into the CFL by the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Later, as number 75 with the Edmonton Eskimos, he played a key role in securing two Grey Cup championships during his 12- year professional football career.

After retiring from football, Bill built a respected career in residential and commercial real estate in Edmonton. Known for his sharp mind, humor, and loyalty, he formed a close circle of lifelong friends and colleagues.

Bill’s greatest pride was his family. He shared a life with Renee, the beloved mother of his children, who predeceased him. Together they raised two sons, Williem (Jenny) and Damien (Iva). Bill was also a proud grandfather to two cherished grandchildren, who brought him immense joy in his later years.

He is survived by his sons, grandchildren, his sister Candace, and many extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Anastasia, his brother Robert, and his children’s mother, Renee.

Bill will forever be remembered as a Grey Cup champion, a successful businessman, and most importantly, a devoted father and grandfather. His memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

  1. When we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in Heaven who watches over us.
