Daniel Edward Fichter, 63 years, of Edmonton AB, formerly of Moose Jaw and Frobisher SK, passed away surrounded by loving family in Edmonton SK on Feb. 5, 2016. Dan was born in Lampman SK on June 2, 1952. He grew up and farmed near Steelman SK. When he retired, he moved to Moose Jaw. Dan was was predeceased by his parents, John and Margaret (Funke), and two infant siblings. He will be missed by his family -- Darlene (Earl Fogel) Fichter of Saskatoon; Dennis Fichter of Roche Perce; and Dianne Young (Ross Wayne) of Edmonton; by his nine nieces and nephews -- Alan and Julie Fogel (Kyle Cuthbert); Stacey, Vaughn (Stephanie Carriere) and daughter Aria, and Tyler Fichter; Joy, Mark and Samantha Young and Susan (Steve) Kavanaugh and sons, Liam and Colin; his long-time Edmonton caregiver, Yosef Pawlos, who was like a brother to Dan; as well as by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Dan was a people person. All his life, he had a smile and "hello " for everyone. Dan was known as a kidder and joker. He was active in the Knights of Columbus. Dan was always ready to lend a helping hand. He loved fishing and listening to country music.

After repeated strokes, Dan spent his last years in care -- first in Moose Jaw and then in Edmonton. No matter where he was, he was known as the friendliest guy, greeting everyone.

The Funeral Mass will be on Saturday Feb 13 at 10 am at St. Joesph's Roman Catholic Church, 1064 - 3rd Ave NW, Moose Jaw. Please join us in celebrating Daniel's life. Internment will be at a later date.

  1. Sorry to hear about Danny. He was a wonderful person and always fund to be around. Even though I didn’t see him too often he will be missed. My condolenes to Darlene, Diane, Dennis and your families.
