It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald (Don) James Sroka, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Don passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, at the age of 77.

Born in Calgary, Alberta, on May 25, 1948, Don moved to Edmonton as a young child, where he spent his entire life surrounded by family, friends, and the community he loved.

Don was devoted to his wife and lifelong companion, Dolores, with whom he recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on October 11. Their love story began on Boxing Day in 1966 — Don was 18 and Dolores was 15 — and from that day forward, they were inseparable. Together they built a life full of laughter, commitment, and deep love.

Don was a proud and loving father to Rob (Kim) Sroka and Barb (Norm) Smyth, and a cherished grandfather to Tyson, Karly, Sydney, and Lindsey. His family was the heart of his world, and he took immense joy in every moment shared with them — from family dinners and celebrations to family vacations and Christmases down South.

He is survived by his sister Maureen (Maurice) Danilak, Sister-in-law Caroline Jober, brother-in-law Ron (Joanne) Kontek, Larry (Bonnie) Kontek, and Kelly Kontek, as well as many nieces and nephews who adored him.
Don was predeceased by his parents Anne and Pete Sroka, brother Dougie Sroka, sister Pat DelColle, parents-in-law Rudy and Vera Kontek, brother-in-law Gordon Jober, and beloved nieces Jody Tjelum, Lindy Kontek-Thirsk and his best friend Rick Szott.

Don will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and devotion to his faith. He was a man who led with his heart — hardworking, dependable, and always ready with a smile or helping hand. His legacy of love, integrity, and devotion to family will live on in all who knew him.

The family wishes to thank the staff at HolSome Place for all of their love and kindness while Don was in their care. And a special thanks to Dr. Chiam for his love and kindness for Don and his family.

Forever loved, forever remembered.
