Eileen Abrams passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8 2025 after living a long and healthy life.

Eileen was predeceased by her father John Lamont, mother Sarah Lamont, sisters Ethel, Isabel, Olive, Sadie, and Ada and brother John Denley and husband Merton Abrams and son in law Bruce Anderson.

She will be missed by son John (Ev) Abrams and family and daughters Leslie (Rainor) Webb and family and Lynn (Bruce) Anderson and family

Eileen was born and raised in Red Deer Alberta and when she finished school she followed her oldest sister, Isabel into the School of Nursing at the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, graduating in 1944.

She went on to spend many years in nursing, retiring at 65. She was very proud of her nursing years and she and her graduating class met once a year for 50 years.

Eileen loved gardening and was known for her wonderful rose and perennial gardens. In the summer she could often be found weeding and tending to her yard early in the morning. She had many hobbies during her lifetime some of which were bridge, sewing, knitting, crocheting, hat making, petite point, needlepoint, crosstitch and reading. She supported the arts in Edmonton and held seasons tickets to the symphony, opera and theatre, attending first with her husband and then later with a group of friends.

She was proud of many things in her life....her Irish heritage, her nursing career, her back yard, her longevity and her family. She was a proud mother of 3, grandmother of 10 and great grandmother of 21.

At Eileen’s request there will be no service but a private family gathering will be held in the spring.

The family would like to thank the staff on ward 2 at Youville, St. Albert for their care and humour demonstrated towards towards Eileen these past four years.

We raise a glass to you, Eileen with this Irish Blessing

May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
The rains fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
