Francis (Frank) Carbert
Frank was raised on a farm in the Bridge Creek District near Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. He was the 5th child born to Albert and Pearl Carbert.
Frank attended Bridge Creek School until grade 8 before attending high school in Meadow Lake. Following that he attended technical school in Moose Jaw.
He held numerous jobs at electrical practicums, Dept of Highways, Esso, International Harvester, and Coop Creamery before finding his passion driving truck for ICG delivering propane all over Northern Saskatchewan. He loved interacting with the people of the North and working independently with nobody telling him what to do. He was very proud of his years of service and immaculate safety record.
Aside from his day job, Frank had many other passions, including refereeing hockey, umpiring ball and honey farming. In retirement he enjoyed farming and caring for the acreage and sharing the bountiful harvest amongst many in the area.
Family was very important to Frank. He married his childhood sweetheart Irmgard, and together they raised two children, Alana and Kent. Frank was a husband and father but his favourite title was “grandpa”. He was most proud of his kids’ and grandkids’ accomplishments and took great joy in attending their numerous events all over the place.
Frank was known as a generous, fair, competitive and honest person by all who knew him. He had a sharp wit and quick tongue and loved to tease. Jeannette Lake was his home and favourite place but he also truly enjoyed living in PV, Mexico in the winter.
Frank enjoyed life and everything it had to offer. He was an avid fisherman, hobby farmer, barbecue enthusiast/brisket master, sports fanatic, master of all trades, and world traveller. His smile and sparkle could light up the room. He laughed loudly, worked hard and played hard - a life well lived.
Sadly dementia robbed him of his final years.
He will be missed and remembered fondly by all who knew him.
