Jeannette Schamp (March 16, 1950- November 7, 2023) lived a beautiful, quiet life.

A softhearted woman, she provided comfort and solace while asking little in return. She married her husband; Maurice, on December 16, 1967 and together they had two children; Greg (Shauna) & Marcy (Paul), which she unconditionally and unselfishly loved and supported all of her life. She also had four beautiful grandchildren; Gregory (Kristi), Kurtis, Ashley (Matt) & Konner (Bray-Lynn) who were her world and whom she loved beyond words!

Jeannette was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and the family relocated to Edmonton, Alberta in 1976. She worked for many years at Eaton’s and then continued on her working career at Ayre & Oxford. She finally decided to retire in March 2021.

Never one to settle, Jeannette, liked to be busy! She loved baking and sharing all her goodies with her family and friends. She also enjoyed playing cards and having a cooler while visiting with everyone. She looked forward to road trips to Winnipeg, MB with her husband Maurice and vacations in general, where she liked to visit extended family, explore new places and see new things!

Jeannette and her daughter were best friends. They talked every day. No one knew her better. Nothing brought Jeannette more joy than knowing her children were happy and safe. To her daughter she leaves her kindness and total lack of being able to sit still too long. To her son she leaves her sardonic wit and her ability to find the good in all situations. To her husband she leaves her undying love, so many years of beautiful moments and memories and their two beautiful children who love him more than words can ever describe.

A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the University of Alberta Hospital for their compassion and care.

On Thursday, November 23, 2023, a celebration of life for friends and family will be held at the Kingsway Legion in the Wild Rose Ballroom, 14339 50 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5A 0S9 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.. A Wife, a Mother, a Grandma too

A wife, a mother, a grandma too,
This is the legacy we have from you.

You taught us love and how to fight,
You gave us strength, you gave us might.

A stronger person would be hard to find,
And in your heart, you were always kind.

You fought for us all in one way or another,
Not just as a wife not just as a mother.

For all of us you gave your best,
Now the time has come for you to rest.

So go in peace, you've earned your sleep,
Your love in our hearts, we'll eternally keep.

  1. Beautiful words for a beautiful woman; Aunty Jeanette will be remembered for her contagious laughter, humor and love. I’ll continue to bake her yummy nuts and bolt’s recipe that she shared with me and think of her fondly when I do. She was selfless and kindhearted and will be forever missed. 💓
