Lorraine Marilyn Phillips
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Lorraine Marilyn Phillips on November 22, 2025.
Born in Edmonton, she was the daughter of her predeceased parents, Harold and Vera Cave. Over the years, Lorraine called many places home, including Alberta, Saskatchewan, England, and British Columbia.
Lorraine leaves behind her partner, Angèle Desrosiers; her children, Jennifer de Leon (Wayne) and David Phillips (Lerma); her grandchildren, Alisa Perkins (Cole) and Gabriella Phillips; and her great-grandchildren, Jace and Maya Perkins. She is also lovingly remembered by her niece, Kirsten Anderson (Alasdair).
Lorraine is also survived by her loving sisters, Shirley Yip (Decker) and Sandra Cave (Gregoire), who shared so many stories, memories, and laughter with her over the years. She will be remembered for her love of life and her joyful spirit.
Known for her quick wit, warm humour, and genuine kindness, Lorraine made a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was deeply respected by colleagues and touched countless lives with her compassion and her wonderfully sharp mind. Curious and creative by nature, she loved reading, history, crafting, and trying out new recipes.
And she loved to dance—sometimes even on picnic tables. Lorraine had a remarkable way of turning any moment into a celebration. Even if she took a tumble, she would bounce right back up and keep dancing without missing a beat.
Christmas was one of Lorraine’s greatest joys. She poured her heart into decorating, preparing a beautiful holiday meal, and choosing meaningful gifts for each loved one. Her wrapping was legendary—every present looked like it belonged in a magazine, crafted with care and thoughtfulness. Lorraine even cherished travelling to Mexico during the past two Christmases with her son and his family, where she enjoyed relaxing in the warmth, sharing great meals, and celebrating a memorable Christmas dinner.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Cross Cancer Institute, the Wheels of Hope drivers, and all who supported Lorraine with dedication and compassion during her treatments over the past 3½ months.
We are also deeply grateful to her doctors, nurses, caregivers, friends, and family who surrounded her with love, comfort, and help whenever it was needed. A special thank-you is extended to Jennifer, Lorraine’s daughter, who supported her throughout her 3½-month recovery journey—scheduling appointments, arranging rides, preparing meals, managing medications, and assisting with her daily needs. Lorraine was deeply grateful for this care and felt more at ease throughout her recovery because of the care and support Jennifer provided.
Lorraine will be deeply missed, but the memories she created—and the love she shared—will live on forever.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Foundation.
