January 8, 1924 – January 4, 2021

Mildred was born and raised in Edmonton and passed away after a brief illness. She had survived COVID earlier in 2020.

She was predeceased by her husband Rodney, infant son Wayne and sisters Marie Davis Snowden, Verla Fuller and Edna Wriglesworth.

Mildred was a wonderful mother to Jerry of Burlington, WA, Beth Kaiser (Dennis) of Calgary and Cathy Schafer of Edmonton. She was loved and cherished by her 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.

Her snowbird travels with a travel trailer continued for 34 years during which time she met her travelling companion, Carl Feighe of Medford, Oregon. Special appreciation is given to her extended family who always welcomed her home each Spring.

Mildred will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, special smile and her love for people. A life well-lived!

A Celebration of Mildred’s Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society in Mildred’s name.

  1. Sorry to hear about your mom. We are thinking of you.

  2. You will be greatly missed by all of us. We will cherish the memories but wish we could have more. Avery and family.

  3. Mom was a very special person to all of us who knew her.

She and Dad gave my sisters and I an exceptional upbringing on 77th Street in the Grierson Estates.

She particularly loved her time with family. In her last year, Mom glowed in our Zoom calls as she watched her Grand Children in action.

Mom was a strong role model who gave the 3 of us the zest for travel, adventure and respect for others.

She made many long-term friends in her years of traveling North America and overseas cruises.

Mom was very kind and fair. Her strong Norwegian determination was balanced with her outgoing personality.

Today is her 97th birthday and I know she will be looking down on us from Heaven as we remember the years of love and joy she gave us.

  4. we were so sorry to hear about your Mom. It’s never easy when that time comes and our thoughts and prayers are with your family. Craig and Kathy Yeatheard

    • Thank you for your kind words. Mom lived a good life and enjoyed it to the fullest.

  5. We are very sad to hear Mildred passed away, our sincere condolences. Mildred was always one to get old neighbors together for coffee in the later years which I enjoyed. Both Tom Jr. and I have great memories of Mildred and her family as neighbors in Elmwood park.

    • Mom often reminisced about all the friends and neighbours in Elmwood Park. The memories live on with Jerry, Beth and Cathy.

She had the special honour of sharing the same birth date with Tom, Sr.
