Paula Taskar
Paula Taskar passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at the age of 76.
Born on July 29, 1949, in Slovenia, Paula came to Canada as a young woman, eventually making Edmonton her home for most of her life. She built a life rooted in resilience, love, and deep connection to family and friends.
Paula will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Paula Taskar Blacklaws (Rob Bambrick), Stephanie Taskar, and Kristen Taskar. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Marcel, Tennille, Carter, Brett, Kayla, Ayden, Gage, Emma, Dominik, Tatyana, and Nikolai, and a cherished great-grandmother to Kinsly, Beau, and Milo. Her family was her greatest joy, and she loved them fiercely and unconditionally.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Milan; her mother, Paula; her brother, Toni; and her sister, Emily.
Paula had a heart that made room for everyone. She spent many years waitressing—a role she truly loved—because it allowed her to connect with people, make them smile, and brighten their day. She had a gift for making others feel seen and cared for.
She lived life with spirit and humor, often saying “no guts, no glory,” a phrase that reflected her strength and boldness. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—listening to all kinds of music, playing bingo, and sharing laughs over trips to the casino, fondly referred to as “going to church.”
Above all, Paula was a devoted mother who raised her three daughters with strength, love, and determination, often on her own. Her legacy lives on in the close, loving family she built and the countless lives she touched with her kindness.
