Jim Martin
After a short, courageous battle with cancer, it is with broken hearts that the family announces the passing of Jim Martin on July 14, 2025, at the Grey Nuns Hospital, Palliative Care Unit 43, in Edmonton, Alberta. Formerly of Bloomfield, PEI. Jim passed away with his loving family by his side, in his 74th year.
Left to mourn his loss are his loving wife of 53 years, Pat; his beloved children, Shannon and Shivon and his special grandson, Brandon (Danny). He is also survived by his loving sisters Anne Greenan, Aletha Monaghan, Arlene MacLeod (Pat), Theresa (Alan) Craswell and his brother Ronald. Also mourning his loss are his sisters and brothers-in-law: Ken and Brenda MacLean, Walt and Linda Sellick, and Lori Chiasson.
Jim was predeceased by his father, Robert Martin; mother, Zella O’Meara (Martin), stepfather Roy O’Meara, in-laws, Alvin and Eunice Hastings. He was also predeceased by his siblings Vince Martin, Lorraine MacPhee (Martin), Clair Martin, Robert Martin, Bill Martin, Leonard Martin, Judy Martin, Hubert O’Meara (in infancy), and Roy O’Meara.
He is lovingly remembered as a favorite uncle to his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom loved him dearly and he loved them just as deeply. Jim will also be fondly remembered by his many special friends and extended family. He had a gift for making friends wherever he went.
Jim was a dedicated employee of Canada Post for 37 years, always striving to do his best. During his time there, he built lifelong friendships and special memories. He also competed in numerous local and national forklift competitions, earning many gold medals.
Following retirement, Jim, being the social butterfly he was, found it difficult to stop working. Just one month later, he began working at Dyna Life / Alberta Precision Labs, where he remained for 16 years, until receiving the devastating news of his cancer diagnosis. He loved working at Precision Labs and, once again, formed many friendships and lasting memories.
Jim was an avid sportsman who loved hunting wild game at the farm in Rimbey with his extended family. He loved golfing, especially during summers in PEI. He curled for many years and played both baseball and slow pitch. True to form, he made many friends through these activities, but his love for his family always came first.
We would like to acknowledge the excellent and compassionate care Jim received during his stay at the Grey’s Nun’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit 43.

To Pat and family, I am so sorry for your profound loss of Jim.
I met Jim when we worked at Canada Post and I have to say, I have never met someone as kind, caring and helpful as Jim. His sense of humor is equal to no one. I’m happy I got to see him before he passed, but it will take awhile to accept that he’s gone. Jim will be missed for a long time to come.
I know I never met you but Shivon should tell me so much about you and I want you know everyone except me knew you but what I saw you do and cancer is such a SICK AND HATEFUL so I agree it sucks.
To: Pat, Shannon(sorry bro), Shivon my heart goes out to you all and my thoughts are with you at this time of need.
