On Monday, December 22, 2025, we lost our Gege, Harry Krawchuk, who passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at the Bonnyville Health Centre at the age of 89.
Harry will forever be remembered and deeply loved by his son Gary (Darlene) Krawchuk; daughter-in-law Linda Krawchuk; grandchildren Roberta (Ian) McClurg, Charlene (Chris) Leroux, Bradley (Suzanne) Krawchuk, Alicia Krawchuk, Chris (Nicole and Hailey Gelety) Krawchuk, and Bryan (Brittany Knupp) Krawchuk; and his great-grandchildren Hailey, Brendan, and Brooke McClurg; Dawson and Mackenzie Leroux; Claira, Ala, and Brianne Krawchuk; Elijah and Gabrielle Stone. He is survived by his brothers Walter Krawchuk and Marshall Krawchuk.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 70 years, Alice Krawchuk; his son Robert Krawchuk; his parents, Peter and Mary Krawchuk; his brother Johnny Krawchuk; his nephew Carey Krawchuk; his sister Olga Ference and nephew Jamie Krawchuk.
Harry was born on August 7, 1936, to Peter and Mary Krawchuk at the family home in Angle Lake, Alberta. He married Alice on November 14, 1953, and together they settled on a farm near Elk Point, Alberta, where they raised their family and built a life rooted in hard work and love.
After selling the farm, and moving to the Town of Elk Point, he became the owner and operator of a school bus for the County of St. Paul No. 19, worked as a Nursing Orderly at the Elk Point Municipal Hospital, and later served as Maintenance Supervisor for the Elk Point Heritage Lodge. He was also well known for delivering Baba’s homemade perogies and cabbage rolls throughout the province, a tradition that brought comfort, connection, and smiles wherever he went.
Family was the heart of everything Gege did. He cherished time spent with those he loved, whether tagging along on fishing trips, going mushroom picking, or simply being present. He believed in working hard, helping others whenever he could, and creating moments that mattered. He also had a fondness for his cars, trucks, and buses.
Loving you always, Gege — you will be missed dearly. In keeping with Harry’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and no ceremony will be held.
