John Herman Van Neck

John Herman Van Neck went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on October 3, 2026, at the age of 73, following a long journey with Alzheimer’s.

He was born in Edmonton, Alberta on November 15, 1952, to Gerrit and Klaasje Van Neck. He had three older siblings to look after him: Anne, Harry, and Gertie, and Pat was his much-loved baby sister.

John loved music, dogs, babies, the acreage, hockey and most of all, Jesus. He was often seen singing or humming the old hymns, and even in his last hours, songs of worship were his comfort.

He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as Anne, Harry and Linda (sister-in-law), and Shirley.

He leaves behind his loving wife, care giver and best friend, Catarina, as well as his children:
Stephanie & Doug Fidelak, Alicia & Paul Adema, Kevin & Caitlyn Van Neck, and Nathan & Melanie Van Neck. In addition, his step-children: Corey & Tara Tilroe, Roger & Tannis Magnus, Chris & Jessica Griffin, Kyle & Verona Griffin and Garrett & Catherine Filiatreault.
He also will be missed by his 25 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, all who lovingly called him Opa.

A private family celebration of life will be held for John, but the family welcomes condolences, stories or messages sent to:
