Wade passed away from cancer, with his family at his side at Norwood

Hospice on August 13, 2019. He was dealt a dreadful hand, and his attitude was, “I won’t go without a fight, I can’t sit at home and whine” and he didn’t! He was born in Winnipeg, MB on December 5, 1961. As it was a military family, many moves took place in his youth. He worked for the Edmonton Public School Board for more than three decades. Wade had many interests, including hunting, fishing, camping (with his kids) and cheering on the Oilers. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Bonny; four children: Jamie (Dan), Shannon (Matthew), Tracy (Max), and Jayden; two grandchildren: McKenna and Logan; two brothers: Don and Scott; mother: Marion Sim, as well as many cousins, sister- and brother- in-laws, and nieces and nephews. Wade was predeceased by his father, Howard Sim, and his father/mother-in-law, Ted and Stephina Harris. Wade was extremely proud of his family, their accomplishments and comradery as a group. His humor and energy will be sorely missed.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held on August 24, 2019 at 1:00pm at Amiskwaciy Academy, 101 Airport Rd NW, Edmonton. Interment at Stephen’s Cemetery Will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Capital Care Norwood palliative unit or a charity of your choice.

    • Sorry to hear about Wade.
Wade was the 1st custodians I worked with in 1986. Wade and I became friends and he even attended my wedding
      back in May 1987.
I just found out earlier this year Wade had cancer and he was terminal. I couldn’t believe Wade still found the strength to come back to work. Wade was a real fighter and hung in there for quite a while.
Sorry Bonnie and family for your loss. Wade will be sadly missed and remembered by all his co workers at EPSB.

  6. Even though it’s only been just over a week, it’s a strange thought that when I go visit mom, you wont be there anymore hogging the TV listening to it at max volume. No more yelling at me for taking your parking spot, and no more cheeky text messages from you. You were a good dad who tried to give us everything we needed. You instilled in us that you dont take crap from anybody and never let people walk all over you. Right until your last day, you still spoke your mind. I know it was hard for you to leave is all, but your in a better place where the pain no longer exists. I hope your enjoying your time up there catching some big trout.

    Love,
    Your faviorate daughter

  7. My condolences to Wade’s family.

Wade was an extremely hard working and honorable man. I am glad that I had the opportunity to work with, and learn from him. His sense of humor, his sense of accountability and his helpful nature will be sorely missed at Edmonton Public Schools.

  8. I miss you

  9. I cant believe its been a year.

  10. So sorry for your loss. I lived upstairs on Macray from you all those years ago. It would have been nice to have known your family…thought about over the years

  11. Happy birthday, Dad. I miss you so much. I miss all the little things who made you who you are. Like when there is a lot of snow and you would insist driving me and Shannon to work or school. Or making sure Leah was happy, so you would give her handfuls of treats. I most of all miss your obsession with grocery shopping (which I definitely inherited from you).
I hope you are having a great birthday up there with everyone.
I love you so much ❣️
    Your princess
