Bonnie Annette Makowecki (nee Hari)
With broken hearts, we would like to announce the passing of our beloved mom & grandma, Bonnie Annette Makowecki on the afternoon of Saturday, October 18 2025 at the age of 73 years.
Bonnie was a mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. She was also a strong, brave, smart, beautiful courageous woman who was much more than what your eyes could see. Bonnie went back to school when she was 30 years and studied to become an accountant, first thru CDI and then battled to have her courses applied to the NAIT accounting program. She graduated 3rd in her class from NAIT Accounting and had a long career working at a few firms when she retired due to health issues. Bonnie was a gardener, camper, knew how to do almost anything but don’t let that fool you into thinking she was a quiet homemaker. Her favorite band was Metallica, she had attended 4 concerts live even travelling to Calgary to watch them twice in one week. She loved music, attending concerts, singing along to a guitar and karaoke. Battling through numerous health issues was something she endured her entire life from a ruptured appendix at 8 years old, to back surgeries, a knee replacement, chronic pain and lung issues. She fought quietly, with determination and strength until she couldn’t fight anymore.
Bonnie is survived by her three children, Melanie(Micheal), Daniel(Sandy) and Raegan (Joseph); grandchildren, Ty, Eva, Faith, Zayn and William and faithful companion Luna.
Bonnie is also survived by four sisters, Diane, Edith(Wayne), Katie(John), Julianna(Ed) plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents, Eva Roy and Waino Hari; brothers Don and Rene Roy; nephew Spencer Belcourt; former husband Nick Makowecki; Best friend Gloria Pennell; Faithful companions, Rosco and Bella,
As per her specific wishes, there will be no funeral or service at this time. The family will be holding a Celebration of Life later in the spring.
