Gervis(Jarvis) Gordon Barry
Born on January 23, 1967 in Heatherton, NL, Jarvis was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and nephew. He touched the lives of many with his warmth, outgoing nature, and huge heart. He had a rare gift for building community wherever he found himself.
Jarvis is survived by his wife, Nancy, the love of his life; their children, Jake (Krista), Stephanie (Brett), and Samantha (Tyler); his father, Gordon; and his grandchildren, Natalie, Ashlynn, Alexa, Zander, and Chloe. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Lucy; his brother, Gerard; and his sisters, Lori (Matt), Tracy (Ernest), and Amanda. Aunts Lorraine (Russell), Jennifer (Carl), and Wanda; Uncle Jamie; and brothers- and sisters-in-law Pat (Sandi), Vic (Diane), Trudy, and Winston (Melissa) also mourn his loss.
His many nieces and nephews—Jessica, Kayla, Jacob, Tamara, Destiny, Matthew, Gabrielle, Brandon, Taylor, Brooklyn, Steven, Kyle, Kayla, Kaden, Kallie, Jessica, Lucas, Frankie, and Harrison—along with a large circle of extended family and friends, remember him with love.
Special mention goes to Uncle Ronnie Barry, Aunt Sheila Williamson, special buds Dennis Shears and Jamie Whalen, and Auntie Jennifer Snooks.
Jarvis was predeceased by his mother, Linda; his biological mother and father, Geraldine and Frank; his grandparents, James and Mary Whalen and William Barry and Nora White; his father-in-law, Alonzo Gillam; his brother-in-law, Adam Gillam; son-in-law, Rodger Hulan; his uncle, Bob Whalen.
Jarvis never hesitated to embrace new opportunities and approached everything with honesty and integrity. His strong values, especially regarding family and friends, earned him the respect and affection of everyone he met. He took a heartfelt interest in the lives of those who cared for him.
Family gatherings—whether for holidays or any occasion—brought him immense joy, especially when they included the beach, good food, '80s music, and a bottle of ketchup. Jarvis was devoted to his faith and the church, drawing strength from his beliefs, which never wavered during his years of illness.
Jarvis’s life motto was: Remember the past with gratitude, live the present with enthusiasm, and look forward to the future with confidence.
To honour Jarvis’s life, a celebration will take place in Heatherton, NL, in the coming weeks, as family travel is coordinated. Notification will follow once arrangements are finalized.

My heart is broken to see this. Biggest hugs, love and condolences to everyone, but especially my amazing friend, Steffy and her incredible mom, Nancy! I wish there was something I could do for you to take away the pain but all I can think to say is when we go it’s only the memory of us left behind for others to keep going with, to draw strength from. Loosing someone so special, and your dad was someone special to his core, will never be ok, but he is always with you all. I could never forget his bright, big smile and his happy, homey and welcoming nature. My heart truly breaks for you all because a man like him is just so so hard to say goodbye to! Just hold the love he had for all of you, and always share great memories to keep his memory where it needs to be! He will always be with you all. If there is anything any of you need, please, please know, I am here for you all.
All of our love to the whole family. We have many precious memories with Jarvis and he will be so dearly missed. May your memories give you peace during this difficult time.
