Jeannette Marie Irene Richardson (nee) Charest
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt, and friend Jeannette Marie Irene Richardson (nee) Charest.
Jeannette passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026 at the age of 83, she was surrounded and comforted by her family who loved her dearly.
She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years and her son Dean.
Words cannot express the light that Jeannette illuminated onto the lives of all who loved and knew her. She has forever imprinted the hearts of family and friends who cherished her so dearly.
Jeannette was born in Westlock, Alberta on December 11, 1942 and was the third oldest of eight children. Her sister Doreen (Alec) (both predeceased), Rita (Ron, predeceased), Marlene (Rodney) (both predeceased), Yvonne (predeceased) (Ray), Joanne (Mark, predeceased), were her truest friends as well as her brothers Paul and Jerry (both predeceased) who she would gather with every weekend and party till dawn.
Jeannette and her sister Doreen were famous for their two-step and would clear the dance floor everytime. Her love of garage sales was unparalleled, her daughter would do her best to distract her and attempt to drive by them but to no avail mom could smell them out. Her dog Layla was her bestest of companions, the two were stuck together like glue and she would often share her morning toast with her. She enjoyed and was most happy being surrounded by her family and friends and adored the noise of a home filled with commotion and laughter. She had a strong spirit which radiated independence and was continuously a shoulder to lean on for those around her. Whilst at a community dance she would meet her future husband Gordon, who happened to be the singer of the band playing that night. They went on to move to Edmonton where they successfully ran their painting and decorating company for many years. Together they would raise their three children, Farren (Jenn), Shayna (Iyad), and Darryl who are all testaments to her hard working, determined, and infinitely loving character. Her grandchildren Braiden, Makayla, Madina, and Savannah are forever engraved with the memories of love and laughter she generously gave them. To have her as a daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother was to know what it meant to be unconditionally loved and shielded by her strong nature and will remain a gift in our hearts forever.

Sincere appreciation and gratitude to the doctors and nurses who provided her with dignified care and compassion.

Farren, Shayna and Darryl,
We would like to send our condolences to you and your families. Your mom was very special and will be missed by everyone who knew her. She was part of the Charest gang, with many sisters who were all special to her, and of course, her two brothers. So many fond memories of their time together in Kelowna and Auntie Clara’s motel and cafe.
With love, Auntie Bob, Connie, Terry, Carol, Rob and Karen

Loving Memories to my Wonderful Friend Jeannette:
Memories of going to Parson, BC, wedding for Doreen and Alec’s daughter.
Going to Yvonne and Ray’s for a week’s holiday in Kelowna. I’ll always be grateful for the friend I found in you. The fun we experienced organizing Thibault School’s 35th high school reunion. All the times you invited me to your family functions. A secret tear will keep your memory near my heart forever. I was lucky to find you.
Love you my friend of seventy (70) years, (1956-2026) ❤️
Claudette 💕
Shayna and family:
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this most difficult time.
May you find peace, knowing that the love, care, patience, and compassion you showed your mom made her feel safe during her journey.
I’m sure her reunion with your dad was beautiful and she is in the front row when he plays his music in heaven.
May many special memories bring your peace and make you smile today the years ahead.
Sincerely
Roberta

I’m especially saddened by the fact that I only barely got to know Jeanette in the sunset of our respective lives, especially since all her pursuits would also have been right up my alley back in the day.
As it was, I found her sense of humor contagious and I loved getting to know her family. I can certainly see a lot of this Jeanette’s reflected in them.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all. My deepest condolences for your loss 🙏
