It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Wayde Allan Lever at the age of 56.

Wayde was born on December 3, 1969 in Grande Prairie Alberta. He was the first born to Len and Debbie Lever. At the age of 13 months, Wayde was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. However, he never let the disability define him or his life.

Wayde surprised his parents by going out and finding his own apartment. Once he settled in, he put himself through college. Upon graduating, he started doing contract work for various charities.

In 1998, he got his first full time position with The Cerebral Palsy Association of Alberta. He went on to work for various charities until 2011. It was then, Wayde decided to put his name forward in politics. He became a member of the Wildrose Alliance Party and was selected as the candidate for MLA of Edmonton Highlands-Norwood in the April 2012. He also ran for a School Board Trustee seat with The City of Edmonton.

In 2016, Wayde started his aspirations to become a "sit down" comedian. He performed and hosted many shows throughout Edmonton. He even did shows in Red Deer to spread his love of laughter.

Wayde is survived by his mother Debbie (Holden) Lever, wife Lori Lever, sister Rorie (Gino) Mazzuca, niece Sarah Mazzuca, nephew Landin Mazzuca, aunt Judy Holden, aunt Holly (Brian) Paulson, as well as numerous cousins and close friends.

He is predeceased by his father Leonard Lever, maternal grandparents, Walton and Marie Holden, paternal grandparents, Russell and Edna Lever, as well as numberous aunts and uncles.

We would like to thank the staff at Capital Care Norwood Hospice for the care and compassion over the last two months.

  4. “My nephew My hero”
Your laughter will always be the best memory.

  5. I would have coffee with Wayde at West Edmonton Mall early mornings for the past number of years. He was very smart and good to talk to. His sense of humour was always present in our talks and him and I had a love for good food in which we would share our opinions.
I will miss him. Wayde, May your memory be eternal.

  6. My deepest and most heartfelt condolences. Wayde will be missed but his sass and memories will be cared on probably forever!

  8. Wayde’s drive to be successful in life was exceptional. My condolences to Lori, Debbie, Rorie and family. I will miss him.

  9. My memories of you will always be with me as you always “gave it all” despite your disabilities. You were a bright light in our times together with your laughter and endless abilities. When visiting Edmonton recently, it was so good to see you and have a good talk!
It has been an absolute pleasure to have you in our family and I will certainly miss you! We shall meet again one day! Prayers and condolences to Cousin Debbie and family

  10. I went to high school with Wade and he graduated with my brother Dean. I remember the huge applause on their graduation day when Wade courageously walked across the stage to receive his diploma. Dean and Wade kept in touch into our 20s. After several drinks, I remember the hilarity of them getting Wade up the stairs of Dean’s basement suite – they were laughing to tears. Dean passed away in 2023 and I have no doubt that he has since welcomed Wade with open wings. They both loved to be funny so the jokes must be non-stop. Sending sincere condolences to Wade’s wonderful family and close friends.

  11. Rest in peace 🕊️ I first met Wade 40 years ago working out at steward centre….

  12. We are so deeply sorry for your loss.

Wayde had a way of leaving an impression that stayed with you, whether it was a perfectly timed joke or one of his stories that you just didn’t want to end. Time spent with him was never ordinary, and it’s something we will always treasure.

Debbie, we want to send our deepest condolences to you. The love, care, and strength you showed throughout Wayde’s life is something truly remarkable, and it did not go unnoticed.

We are holding you and your family close in our thoughts and sending all our love during this incredibly difficult time.

  13. I am sorry to hear of your recent loss. Despite his health, he certainly didn’t let it hold him back. I am sure he inspired many through his short time here. Deepest condolences 🙏
