John Winston Bjorkquist Jr.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of John Winston Bjorkquist Jr. on May 4th, 2025, at the age of 58.
John was born January 6, 1967, to John and LaVerne, in Edmonton, AB. When John was 2 the family moved to Hinton, AB, where he lived for the remainder of his life. John loved living in Hinton and took full advantage of all the area had to offer, camping, hiking, fishing, mountain biking, often with close friends who shared his passions. He also loved sports, and played them all, especially hockey which he played for most of his life, including coaching for many years. John worked at the local pulp mill for 37 years, where he formed many meaningful friendships and close bonds.
He will be forever missed by his wife, Christine Bjorkquist, his children Mason Bjorkquist and Molly Bjorkquist, his mother Laverne Bjorkquist, his sister Tracy Holstein, many extended family members and dear friends. John was predeceased by his father, John Bjorkquist Sr. and his mother in law, Patricia Graham.
A memorial service will be held on May 31st, 1pm, at the Royal Canadian Legion in Hinton, AB.
On behalf of the Gladden family, we send our heartfelt condolences to John Jr.’s family and friends. We all have fond memories of growing up in Hinton and life in the arena there as it seemed like we almost lived in it during the winters watching John Jr. play many hockey games with Chris and David. John J. was an incredible all-round amazing athlete and great guy. We are certain he had an incredible impact on those that were fortunate to have him as a coach. It seems unfair that his life ended much too soon. We are so sorry for your immense loss xoxo
Our deepest condolences.
Our prayers are with you at this time.
John and Linda Northcott
