Joyce Towndrow
It is with great sadness the family of Sylvia (Joyce) Thelma Towndrow (nee Benner) announces her passing on Saturday July 25, 2026 at the age of 88 surrounded by her family.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Diane, Chris (Dave), Wendy (Ron), Vicky (Daryl) and Sheila (John). Her grandchildren, Selena, Alicia, Jason, Tiffany, Jesse, Chloe, Alorah, Sydney, Olivia, Lindsay, Darby and Colby. And great grandchildren William, Jacob, Luke, Cyrell, Hunter, Bradley, Karder, Sofia, Jacob, Ella, Issa, Sebastian and Haiden and many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Born in Lloydminster January 24, 1938 to parents Samuel and Thelma Benner.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Bill, her son Rick (Chris) and many family members and friends.
In 1956 she got married and stayed busy raising her children and working hard at the family farm. After Dad passed and with most of the chicks out of the nest, mom decided to go back to work at the Paradise Valley arena restaurant.
In 2022 she moved to Edmonton to be closer to her children and grandchildren but still maintained her friendships and the memories from her many years in the Paradise Valley area.
She led an active social life in Edmonton, where she made many new friends. Enjoying social get togethers, playing cards, shopping and visits with family and friends. Mom always made time. Whether it be helping someone out, teaching the grandkids how to play crib and cards or just having coffee visits. She loved her country music and even managed to instill that love in some of her grandkids.
With some help from the kids she was able to keep her independence until she passed.
Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, you are loved and we will treasure our memories.
A Celebration of Life for Joyce will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 1:00 p.m., at the Paradise Valley Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
