Our Mom left us almost 2 months after her 99th birthday, which she celebrated with friends, family, a glass of sherry and a piece of cake.

She was predeceased by her loving husband John in 1964 and her infant sister Euphemia.

Margaret was the last of her generation.
Mom, Ma, Aunt Mar, Mrs. C, Margaret, Margie, Marjie, Dame Margaret, Gammie Chalmers, Mrs. Chalmers, and since her time at Jubilee, Mama and Marj.....no matter the moniker, everyone who knew her, loved her for her kindness, sense of fun and beautiful smile.

An avid sports fan, especially the Eskimos and Oilers, she was able to cheer on the Oil in their last run for the cup.

Pets were always a part of her life and she championed for those animals neglected and abused.

In 1997, Margaret was conferred as a Dame by the Order of St. John Ambulance of Jerusalem, whom she worked for from 1965 - 1991.

She will be missed forever by her daughters Donna (Dale), Cathy; as well as Neil, Heather (Eric, Steven, Katelin), Allison (Kyle), Allison Bliss (George, Lindsay, Cameron) and numerous friends and other family.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Jubilee Lodge Nursing Home who made Mom's life comfortable and enjoyable for her last nine months, especially the staff of
2 South.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Edmonton Humane Society, SCARS or the charity of your choice.

  5. Cathy, Donna and Dale we are so sorry for your loss. Keep your fond memories of her close to heart. Your Mother was a my support and mentor through my active time with St John Ambulance. We had many chuckles together, especially ensuring I wore the right medals for the occasion. I often think of her as her piano sits in our living room and got the boys through their music lessons. Memories forever, may she Rest in Peace.

She was a real gem, always smiling and willing to help.
I called her Hawkeye, because she was so helpful, when
    you needed help with paperwork.
