Miranda Violet Nelson
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Miranda Violet Nelson on August 25, 2026, at the age of 40.
Miranda came into the world on April 18th, 1986, making a memorable entrance as the first baby born in the Edmonton General Hospital’s newly opened birthing room.
Miranda was a fighter. Throughout her life, she fought for the people she loved, for her recovery, and for the good life she wanted for herself and her family. She had a soft spot for the underdog and wasn’t afraid to stand up for someone she believed needed a voice.
Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, Miranda took great pride in her work as a Health Care Aide, caring for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Caring for others was an important part of who she was, especially loving her children.
Miranda loved being surrounded by her family and friends. She was funny and quick-witted, and she knew how to make the people around her laugh. She was also the kind of friend who was there when you needed her.
Miranda faced many challenges throughout her life, including a long battle with chronic illness, but she continued to fight through them with courage and determination.
She will be remembered not only for the struggles she faced, but for her humour, her fierce heart, her loyalty, and the love she had for the people who mattered most to her.
Miranda will be deeply missed by her family, her friends, and all those whose lives were touched by hers.
My sweet, sweet girl. I don’t know how we got here- to this sad, sad place of loss and dreams never lived.
To your mother: my deepest care and support. Frances, you are baring what no mother should, yet- you do it with grace and dignity.
Felix, Kyla, Tyler: My heart breaks for you to see this world tainted by such grief. You were her sun, moon, and Earth and on her best days she wanted you to lead with your heart & spirit to conquer this world.
To all who will miss my sweet Miri. Thankyou for remembering a beautiful soul.
