Murray Colban
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Murray Colban.
Murray is survived by his loving wife, Diane Colban and their two children, Tim Colban (Jasmine) and Stephanie Antoniuk (Robin) as well as 6 grandkids - Rylan, Holly, Justin, Joshua, Grace & Tyler. He is also survived by his 3 brothers, their wives and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, Arthur and Lillian, his baby sister, Joanne, and his two brothers, Bruce & Wayne.
Murray was born on October 30, 1938 in Edmonton, AB. He joined the military at the young age of 17 and retired 32 years later after several transfers that took him to Europe, Washington DC and from coast to coast across Canada. He chose to retire in Pine Lake, Alberta, where he and his family would live on 2 acres of Diane’s parents farm and live close to family for another 38 years before moving to Sherwood Park to live closer to their daughter, Stephanie.
Murray lived a beautiful life that he would attribute to his love of Jesus and his wife, Diane. He is known for his quick witted humor, his constant smile, hearty laugh and his ability to make friends wherever he went! You could most often find him reading a book or his Bible, building a puzzle, watching sports, talking to his brother Neil on the phone, drinking a milkshake or Pepsi, playing chess with his brother-in-law or playing a game with Steph & Diane. He had a big love of life and enjoyed the little things. He was very sentimental and had a tender heart.
He passed away in his sleep at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, AB early in the morning of August 26th, 2025 after bravely battling a long fight with pulmonary fibrosis.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Murray is a man I never forgot. He was our youth leader at the Salvation Army in North Bay many many moons ago. All of us loved this man. Rest in Peace Murray.
Murray was a one of a kind man. His smile would light up the world and his large laugh was always a welcome sound. His love for Jesus was so evident and he was happy to share the good news of His love. He was loved by everyone he met and I for one will cherish the time I got to spend with both Diane and Murray. Their home was always open for anyone to stop in to say hello. You will be missed greatly but I know we will see each other again when we all get to Heaven. A life well lived my friend. Miss you 💔
