Richard Bessette
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Richard Paul Bessette of Edmonton, Alberta on March 3, 2026 at the age of 81 years.
Richard was born on October 29, 1944 in McLennan, Alberta to Henri and Louise Bessette. He lived the majority of his life in the Peace Country before spending time in Sparwood BC, Lacombe and Edmonton.
Richard is survived by his loving wife Bernadette Hebert, sons Dwayne Bessette (Debbie), Jason Bessette (Tammy), step-sons Don Mackell (Cecile), Marcel Mackell (Paula), Paul Hebert (Tammy), grandchildren Owen, Anika, Isabella, Max, Thomas, Christian, Lionel, Jayson, Natasha, Payge, Jreau, Kassidy, Calub, Kienan, Jerimiah and 15 great grandchildren.
Richard was predeceased by his parents Henri and Louise, sisters Rita Cloutier, Irene Coss, Jeanne Cunningham, Yvonne Demonceaux, brothers Raymond Bessette and Leo Bessette.
A Celebration of Richard’s life and fellowship will be held in Jean Cote, Alberta at the Jean Cote Community Center on June 6, 2026 at 1:30 p.m.
I’m so sorry for the lost of Richard I’ve known him for at least 30 years and was a good human being and very welcoming person when we visited him. R.I.P. until me meet again.

Hello Richard’s family. Just read the obituary, and wanted to send a message of sympathy to Bernadette, Dwayne and Debbie, Jason and Tammy and the rest of the family. It is truly a sadness to see Richard leave us. To all of you, my deepest sympathy, may our Heavenly Father welcome him in Paradise to be with the Angels and Saints.
I have known Richard for over 60 years. He was our best man when I married his brother Leo. We have been to many reunions, huge anniversaries /birthday celebrations etc during these 60 years. Richard was always calm, welcoming and loved his country music.
Richard, I will continue to pray for the repose of your soul, Rest In Peace dear brother in law. You have gone way too soon.
To the whole family, we are sorry for your loss. Grief is such a heartache. The only remedy is to allow yourself time to grieve. However you will always remember the good times.

Richard was a great man I meet him in Sparwood. Richard was a hard worker and a good hearted person. You will be miss my friend
