Rita Marie Chlotilde Koskinen (née Simard)

Our dear mother Rita died peacefully at home in Edmonton at age 97. She was surrounded by family. We will miss her love, her sense of humour, and her motherly advice.

Rita was born in Ste Agnes, Quebec, and was raised on a farm. She met and married Ed in Toronto in October 1953. They raised their children in Ontario before moving to Alberta.

Rita was a hairdresser, a seamstress, and a great cook and baker. She was well known for her generous hospitality. She was happy to give her time and energy to others.
Rita was a wonderful mother and enjoyed being surrounded by all the children in her growing family.

Rita was predeceased by her husband Edward Elmer Koskinen, in May 1986. She is survived by all her children - Cynthia (Jim) Griffith, John (Sharlene) Koskinen, Arlene Koskinen, Timothy (Tricia) Koskinen, and Susan Koskinen - fifteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
