Ronald Joseph Krissa, born on February 3, 1939, in Lac Bellevue, Alberta, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025. He is survived by his wife, Diane, and his two children, Len (Shauna) and Janice. Ron will be missed by his grandchildren, Jorgia (Greg), Harrison, Carson and Aron, as well as his two brothers, Ludwig (Natalia) Krissa, Thomas (Suzanne) Krissa, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents, Steve and Annie Krissa, Ron grew up on the family homestead in Lac Bellevue, where his love for the farm was rivaled only by his passion for baseball. Growing up in a Ukrainian farming community, the Krissa and Krankowski family gatherings were vibrant celebrations filled with laughter, good food, witty jokes, and cherished times spent with family and friends.

In 1963, he married the love of his life, Diane Helen Gusnowski, from Elk Point, Alberta. The couple resided in Edmonton, where Ron embarked on a teaching career that would leave a lasting impact on many lives. Shortly before getting married, Ron began working for Veteran’s Affairs, a passion he continued to support throughout his life.

Ron attended the University of Alberta, earning a Bachelor of Education while juggling night classes and caring for his son, Len, during the day. Ron taught at Archbishop O’Leary High School, where he was actively involved in extracurricular activities, coaching swimming, organizing ski trips, and taking students on memorable trips to Jasper. Ron retired from teaching in 1995, but his love for baseball never waned. He continued to play throughout his retirement, competing in the World Senior Games in St. George, Utah, and tournaments across Alberta.

Ron loved spending time with his grandkids, enjoyed babysitting them, and was always willing to lend a hand at any baseball game. Even though he faced many health challenges throughout the years, Ron always bounced back, embodying resilience. Ron lived a full and vibrant life, and his spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. May he rest peacefully now and play ball eternally.
