On August 23, 2025, surrounded by his family, Ron went into the arms of his Lord and Savior at the age of 89.

He is forever in the hearts of his family: wife of 66 years, Marilyn, children, Brent (Cathy), Dana (David) and Michelle (Brad); Sister Elaine; grandchildren, Amanda (Nathan) and Kirsti (Locky); great grandchildren, Zoey and Brooke; numerous relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Lena and brother Wayne.

Ron will be remembered for many things including his sense of humor, kindness towards others, willingness to help those in need, woodworking skills, building houses and campers and the ability to fix anything he set his mind to.

The family would like to thank all the staff in the University Trauma Unit, Norwood Centre and Good Samaritan Care Centre. A special thanks to Sherwood Care for taking such good care of Ron this past year. Your care and compassion meant the world to all of us.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Friday September 12, 2025, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, 13 Brower Dr. Sherwood Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University Hospital Foundation or MS Society of Canada.

  1. Marilyn, Brent, Dana, and Michelle,
Ron was such a special neighbour! He always was there to help when we first moved into our new houses. Ron kept busy building and gardening.
A favourite memory was how much he loved sampling scones and cookies. His big smile and twinkle in his eyes was very appreciated!
May your special memories give you comfort at this time.
    God Bless,
    Barbara and Chuck

  2. Dear Marilyn, Dana, Brent and Michelle
I am so sorry for your loss of Ron. I was unaware he had passed away and had brought in music of yours to play, only to find out that he had passed away and you weren’t there at that table anymore, Marilyn. I was very saddened. It had been so much fun chatting with you and Ron, receiving so much lovely old music to play and enjoy with you. I regret not being able to be at the service for Ron, but we were in BC as my husband’s sister had passed away that week. I fell and broke my arm out there and have been unable to get back to SCC as I’m not driving. Consequently, I didn’t realize that today was the memorial service for him and now I’ve missed seeing you again, Marilyn. Know that I’ve been thinking of you regularly and will miss our visits, and Dana as well. It has been a pleasure to share this phase of Ron’s life with you all.
