In Loving Memory Of Ruth Grace Trach (Baba)
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ruth Grace Trach (Baba), who passed away peacefully at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 1:30 a.m., at the age of 85.
She was surrounded by the love of her children. Ruth was born on February 26, 1940, in Loon Lake, Saskatchewan. Known for her hard work, selfless giving, and loving, caring nature, Ruth created a beautiful legacy of devotion that will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
Ruth is survived and lovingly remembered by her devoted children, whom she shared with Danny Trach, and her grandchildren: Debbie Field (Ian) and her children: Joshua Field (Emily) and Jordan (Nina); Rick Trach (Mary) and their children: Heather (Joel), Nicole, Mackenzie (Shanelle), and Kristopher (Alyssia); Karen Rothwell and her children: Garrett (Sarah) and Brandon; Brenda Kiziak and her children: Shai and Chance. She was also a proud and adored Great-Grandmother to Hayden, Laikyn, Emmah, Oliver, Tucker, Jack, Georgia, Amelia, Pierce, Demi, and Ellie. Ruth is also survived by her loving siblings: Sisters Linda Yarmuch (Gary) and Shirley Melnyk (Bill), and Brothers Ed Melnyk (Marguerite), Ron Melnyk (Marion), Roy Melnyk (Micki), and David Melnyk (Jennifer), as well as sister-in-law Maureen Demyd. She was predeceased by her father, William Demyd; her mother, Olga Melnyk; her stepfather, Mike Melnyk; her brothers, Randy Demyd and Michael Melnyk; and the father of her children, Danny Trach.
The family extends a sincere and heartfelt thank you to the incredible team in Unit 53 at the Grey Nuns Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion. A special appreciation goes out to the nurses who provided such comfort and support: Lisa, Alanna, Brigetti, Buljinder, and Tamara, as well as Dr. Freitas. We also wish to express our deep gratitude to her family doctor, Dr. Chi, and Dr. Villeneuve and Myrna Poettcker at the Chronic Kidney Disease Clinic in Edmonton, and to her dedicated home care aids: Geeta and Anthony, for their compassionate assistance.
Service Information: A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December, 5, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Resurrection Parish, 10555 50a St NW, Edmonton, AB T6A 2E6, with Father Roger Niedzielski officiating. A fellowship and light reception will follow the Mass in the Parish Hall.
Internment at Northern Valley will be held at a later date.
Donations: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.

Sorry to hear about Ruth’s passing. I remember her well when we were growing up as youngsters during our farm days. Then life separated us. WE were step-cousins.
Dear family, I was so sorry to hear of Ruth’s passing. She was a wonderful mother with a fierce and stubborn love for her family. She worked hard and was the glue that held her family together through every difficult time. I will always hold many memories of her. 💓
