It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Ted at the age of 89 years. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Carol of 66 years; daughter: Linda; son: Perry (Sylvia); daughter: Darlene; grandchildren: Kristy (Chris), Sheena (Fabian), Christopher (Gabrielle), Bradley, Jennifer (Blake), and Brendan; great-grandchildren: Cameron, Carter, Grace, Felix, and Maya. He will also be greatly missed by his surviving sibling: Jackie, as well as numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings (3 brothers, 5 sisters).

Ted was born in Mundre Alberta to parents Harry and Marie Chmilar. His family relocated to the City of Edmonton shortly after were Ted grew up alongside his nine siblings. At a young age, Ted relocated to the US where he enlisted in the US Air Force. He was very proud of his service and accomplishments.

Ted moved back to Edmonton upon hearing of the passing of his mother Marie. It was here where he met his wife Carol. Together they raised a family while Ted worked in the Alberta Energy sector which took him to various locations including the Arctic Circle, northern Canada's due line, Cambridge Bay, Ft McMurray region, among others. After retirement, Ted & Carol traveled throughout the US. Ted was very involved with his children & grandchildren. School performances, dance recitals, skating, soccer, coaching hockey, football games, fishing trips, & camping to name a few.

Later, Ted focused on giving back to his community by volunteering extensive time thru his local church. Ted enjoyed everything sports including hockey, football, and horse racing. Ted will be greatly missed by both family and close friends.

The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support. Additional thanks to the AHS Palliative care givers, nurses, and doctors that attended to Ted both at home and at Capital Care Norwood in his final weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation: Cross Cancer Institute.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions, a private funeral service will be celebrated at St Theresa's Catholic Parish on December 17th.

    It was an honour attending Mr. Chmilars funeral mass. He was a man who loved his family and dedicated his life to their well being. May you find comfort in your memories.
