Thomas Joseph Sanregret
Thomas Joseph Sanregret passed away on December 20, 2024, 3 months after his 90th birthday.
Tom was born on September 11, 1934 in St. Paul, Alberta to George and Adelina Sanregret; he was one of eleven children in the Sanregret family (Harold, Ruth, Raymond, Carmen, Corrine, Ken, Tony, Allie, Bert, and Muriel). Tom was a residential school survivor, after which he settled in the Edmonton area where he built a career in Sales and Management. In May of 1959 Tom married Jeanne McNeil and had 5 children- Warren (Linda), Annette (Rob), Casey (Lisa), Andre (pre-deceased), and Michelle. Along with his children, Tom is survived by his twelve grandchildren.
Tom may be more well known in the Edmonton sports community. He was a dedicated athlete, coach, and manager. Growing up Tom played several sports; as a young adult he became the star quarterback for the Edmonton Wildcats and then went on to play semi-pro across Canada. Tom’s coaching and team management was his true passion. His skill & knowledge elevated his career from coaching to management, resulting in numerous championships. To recognize Tom’s commitment as President of KC Hockey, a division was named after him in Edmonton Minor Hockey. Tom’s love for sports and competition was passed down to his children and grandchildren. If he wasn't coaching them, you could find Tom sitting on the sidelines eager to cheer on his family.
In the later years of Tom’s life, Tom found a partner in Sharon Merryweather. The two found joy in traveling to places such as Brazil, Belize & Jasper, but also in simple moments with friends & family at the local Tim Horton’s. Tom will be remembered and missed for his humour, big heart and peaceful demeanour.

A man well loved for his spiritual contributions to all those he touched will leave a large heart print on all that knew him. Thanks for sharing such wisdom with all you knew, Sheryl T.
My sincere condolence to you Sharon. Your beautiful spirit will help you in this time. Take care and love to you.
Tom and Jean were always welcoming to all of their kids’ friends. Ron and I had SO many happy times at the Sansregret home, and despite the fact that the hockey and Mac gatherings were sometimes bedlam, the Sanregrets never made a fuss. Same goes for the lake cabin – we were welcomed into the Tom and Jean cocoon where our parents knew we would be safe, albeit drunk as hell.
As a teenager, I was oblivious to differences in the financial resources that different families had, but once I got my head out of my arse I realized how generous the Sanregrets had been – food, facilities, and bail money (kidding). We are lucky to have Tom (and Jean) in our lives – they were the type of parents we strived to be.
Warren, Annette, Casey and Michelle, we are so sorry for the loss of your Dad.
We have so many wonderful memories of our Uncle Tom through the years. The low rentals, the Castle Down house and of course the Cabin. He was a kind and gentle man.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Love you all.
Ken, Judie, Mike and Steph.
Sharon, Thank you for sharing some of your precious stories about Tommy and your times together. You loved and were loved in return.
Our love goes out to you today and to all the family.
To the family of Mr.Tommy and to you my dear friend Sharon Merryweather., my deepest condolences to you all. I was privledged to meet Tom thru Sharon. As Sharon’s hairstylist I often trimmed up Tommy’s hair. We had great conversations on spirituality . I experienced him as a truly benevolent person. Bright shining eyes and a warm heart thru whatever the day brang. Tom is one of those people that make an imprint on you. He did for me
