Adrienne Genevive Elton (nee Swanson)
Adrienne Genevive Elton (nee Swanson) was born on June 25, 1946 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her parents Mervin Swanson (1983) Mother Geneva Swanson (nee Wilson, 2014); brothers Maurice Swanson (2011) and Carl Swanson (2019).
Mom was raised on the family farm near Keeler, Saskatchewan; later moving to Edmonton Alberta in November 1969 where she resided with her husband of 60 years, Don Elton.
Mom was a devoted wife, loving mother, amazing grandmother, great-grandmother, a loyal friend, and a genuine person with a kind heart. Mom enjoyed her small backyard garden, that always had the most beautiful tomatoes. She also loved to watch her grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports, often listening to their play by play the kids would share. Mom would often have soccer, hockey, and baseball highlights at any given time of the year. During the winter months Mom could be found in a BINGO hall with the girls, or cozied up downstairs in her Lady Cave reading, doing a jigsaw puzzle, or watching curling and hockey on TV
Mom loved the summer months as they always meant loading up the holiday trailer and fishing boat so she and Dad could travel to Goodsoil, SK to visit with family and friends old and new. Every day was spent on the lake, and even though she always would out fish Dad, he would never complain, no matter how many fish he had to filet. Eventually they would make their way back to Baptiste Lake to stay for the last leg of the summer, enjoying time with the Athabsaca family and friends, and of course more fishing, campfires, and memories to be made.
Adrienne’s beautiful smile, zest for life, patience, and love will be deeply missed by her husband of 60 years, Don Elton; children Denise (Reg), Darin, Teressa (Sonny); her 7 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren; numerous extended family members and friends.
“We hold you close within our hearts, and there you shall remain, to walk with us throughout our lives, until we meet again. So, rest in peace our beloved Mother, and thanks for all you’ve done. We pray that God has given you, the crown you’ve truly won”.
Special thanks to the staff at Foyer Lacombe Hospice in St. Albert for the care and compassion that you gave our Mom Adrienne during her final days.
In honour of Adrienne’s wishes, no formal service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Adrienne’s name to Canadian Cross Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation

Daryl and I offer our condolences on Adrienne’s passing. She will be missed greatly by you all. I was raised at Keeler and was closer in age to Carl but remember always what a nice family that Adrienne was part of. Daryl grew up with Don at Eyebrow and sends his sympathy too. Your mom leaves you with many warm memories I’m sure.
On behalf of our family- Thank you for your kind words❤️.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time Don. May God give you peace and comfort, and fill your heart with warm memories.
Much love to all your family. Will miss Adrianne and her kind hospitality, her spark and adventure. Condolences and heartfelt comfort as you work through this part of your journey.
With love , Bonnie
Adrienne was always so friendly and welcoming. I remember summer bbq’s , thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Adrienne always brought the best treats. She was an excellent cook and so very modest when praised. She took time to listen to whatever anyone said . Never down, she had a smile for everyone. She will certainly be missed by so many people. Rest in peace now Adrienne , you certainly deserve it. 💖
Growing up in Brownlee we spent a lot of time with Keeler friends. I remember Adrienne at school, always smiling, at hockey or playing ball and cheering on the teams, at dances joking with everyone. With both of us living in Edmonton, we kept in touch over coffee and laughs over memories. She was proud of her family and often talked about her grandchildren & great grandchildren. She will truly be missed.
I remember Adrienne as a young girl at Keeler, she used to come to our home on the farm every once in awhile and stay with my sister Sherry. Adrienne was always a kind and caring person. RIP my friend
I have fond memories of Adrienne growing up. Our parents visiting back and forth. So sad to hear that she had passed. We shared a lot of laughs. Adrienne came to Calgary for a visit a long time and she still looks the same. God bless
My condolences to Don, Denis, Darin, Teressa and the rest of the family. Adrienne has been a good friend for the past 48 years, we started out as co- workers and soon became friends. Rest In Peace My Friend
My sincerest sympathies to the family and Mr Elton. I will always remember Mrs Elton as our cheerleader and driver for both Teressa and our years of playing ball. She was always at every game and practice supporting us. Thank you for everything.
Love
Elaine
