Bert's lengthy career spanned well over 50 years. His focus was mainly centered around the oilfield around Midale, SK and Chauvin, AB. He was a skilled mechanic but also a truck driver (hauling oil, water, gravel), grader operator, entrepreneur and business man.
He served one term as mayor in Chauvin in the late 80's. He left Chauvin for Whitecourt but later moved to Mayerthorpe where he operated his own septic truck business until he sold it to his nephew a few years ago.
Bert enjoyed many leisure activities over the years including hockey, baseball and golf. He loved watching curling on TV. Outside of competitive sports, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Later on, gardening was a huge highlight in his life. Cooking also became an enjoyable pastime as his life slowed down.
A celebration of life will be held at the Mayerthorpe Legion on April 9 from 1:00 - 4:00. Lunch will be provided. Please reach out to his family if you plan to attend.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.

A small tear and instant hurt in my heart when I saw Berts picture here. Such a special friend of 45 years. Just a great guy. Bert was a special man who loved his family dearly. We talked often. He was always there to listen, to talk, to laugh. And those jokes. No one could tell jokes and brighten your day like Bert. He always gave so much of himself to, and for others. Rest easy my friend and may all your family have peace.
